Midwest Region Games Rally and Scramble

September 12th & 13th, 2020

The Midwest Region Qualifying Games Rally will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at the Longview Horse Park in Grandview, MO. This will be a qualifying rally for USPC Champs and Festival to be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington KY in July, 2021.
On Saturday afternoon, September 12th, a Games Scramble will be held for all interested games players.

The Competitor’s Championship Intent Form will be available at the Rally.
Games Rally Entry:  Please indicate for each team the club/centers name, team name, division, and pinny color.  Only Club/center checks will be accepted.  There will be a $20 late fee for late or missing information.    
Please note: there will be no stall shavings provided.   Stalls may have some bedding.
Teams:  Junior teams shall consist of 4 or 5 members. Pairs teams shall consist of 2 members. Incomplete teams will be combined to make whole regional teams.
Walk/Trot - 9 years and younger D1 and UR.  Older D1s may also participate
Junior #1 - 14 years or younger as of January 1, 2020
Junior #2- 15 - 17 years as of January 1, 2020
Senior Pairs - Ds 18 and up as of January 1, 2020
Advanced Pairs - Cs 18 and up as of January 1, 2020
Eligibility for USPC 2020 Championships: a Junior for Modified must be a D-2F, D2 HM and at least 10 years old as of January 1, 2020; a Junior Regular must be a C-1 HM, C1-Fl and at least 12 years old as of January 1, 2020.  Cs may play in the Modified Division, but Ds may not play in regular.
Note:  For Pairs teams, one member must meet the age requirement; other team member may be younger. 
As this is a qualifying rally for USPC Championships 2020, all Games rules, equipment, tack, requirements, etc. will be enforced.  Check the Games Rulebook 2019 for required and appropriate equipment.
As per the current USPC Games Rulebook  Junior teams may have a coach, but it is not mandatory.   Pairs may not have a coach.  As with other disciplines, coaches will need to submit the USPC coaching form.
Required Forms: a negative Coggins within one year, a 30-day equine health certificate if coming from outside Missouri, Competitor’s Activity & Equine Release Form, and Uniform Chaperone Agreement.  Horses cannot be unloaded until the Coggins is presented.

                                    Ribbons will be awarded for HM except for W/T                     
Pinnies:  Each team will be responsible for providing pinnies.  Pattern for the pinnies can be found in the USPC Handbook and Rules for Games Competitions 2019.  Feel free to be creative in your color and design.  Pinnies must have a number on both front and back.  Each team must provide a white helmet cover for each team’s last rider.

T-Shirts:  Special commemorative T-shirts celebrating 20 years  of Games in the Midwest are included in rally fees.   Additional T-shirts may be ordered for $15.00 each.  A store will be set up soon to order online.  Contact Lisa Morrissey at 573-268-9672 for more information.
Saturday Night 20th Anniversary Pot Luck: as with the first games rally, we will have a pot luck following jogs and weights and measures. The region will supply hot dogs/hamburgers and drinks. Participating clubs will be asked to supply sides dishes.  Further information will be forthcoming.
Arrival & Departure:  You can arrive as early as 8am on Saturday. Horse and equipment drop off by parents must be completed by 4:00 PM on Saturday for the rally.   Teams may begin setting up Tack Rooms as soon as they arrive.  Participants of the scramble may begin to arrive after 8 am on Saturday. Please contact me directly if you need an earlier arrival time. 
Games to Be Played:  Depending on time and number of teams, between 10 -12 games will be played by Juniors and Pairs. Walk/Trot will play 8 games. Games include:   Balloon, Bending, Bottle, Carton, Five Flag, Five Mug Relay, Hi Lo, Old Sock, Rope Race, Stepping Stone, Sword, and Windsor Castle. Tie breaker: 2 flag.

Schedule may be adjusted depending on number of participants.
*Walk /trot participants have a safety check, not a formal. However, they will take part in tack room/feed room/stall horse management checks.
Parent Volunteer Lane & Line Judges:  As in the past, all parents will help as line and lane judges and with equipment.  At least two parent volunteers are required for each participating team.  All parents will need to have appropriate footwear to be around horses.
Games Attire:  Jodhpurs or breeches with alligator clips that go under the sole of  black or brown jodhpur (or paddock) boots and any color collared shirt with sleeves OR tall  socks over breeches with paddock boots with any color collared shirt with sleeves. All team members must dress alike. Garters are optional.  Breeches and tall boots are acceptable. Please see the current newsletter for current clothing updates.
Tack rooms will be in stalls; Feed rooms are in trailers.  Feed stalls can be purchased for $35.
Pony or Horse?  If a pony clubber wishes to participate in the Games Rally, but does not have a pony, s/he may enter with their regular pony club mount.  Size of mount is not restricted to ponies.  Horses (as well as donkeys and mules) are welcome to come and play!
